L’Afrique c’est Chic

Here is an absolute gem from the December 2011 issue of Vogue Australia starring the blonde, full lipped long legged American that is Katie Fogarty. I discovered these fantastic images a while ago and have the majority of them saved on my scheduled list for some time; ready and waiting for a rainy day. Although today is in fact rather bright, albeit windy, I feel a splash of colour and print is never a bad thing - especially in January. Plus, WONDER FULL could do with it after a couple of month's hiatus.

Impeccably styled by fashion editor Naomi Smith and shot by Max Doyle on location in the sandy African desert, the collection of photographs are beautifully finished, excessive and fun with an abundance of clashing print, bright colour, stripy heels and a few rather fetching headscarves. Perfect summer dressing right there, no? It's hard to pick a favourite but I think it would be the image above if I was pressed. Not only are Fogarty's legs pretty phenomenal but her stance is strong. The Maison Martin Margiela yellow fringed mini dress by and beaded platform sandals by Burberry Prosrum is exactly the kind of ensemble I would wear on holiday in the evenings. I also love the image where Fogarty sits in a chair and those side profiles accentuate her beautifully vivid eyes without even a trace of mascara. She is absolutely stunning. And my my God she can work a stripe and plum lip.

What do you make of the editorial? Are we a fan of Fogarty? Have any of you been to Africa?

Fashion Parade

I have stacks of amazing editorials that I have had saved for a while now, so I will be posting those, as well as with a varied selection of my favourite images from various publications, over the next few months. I don't think there is ever a bad time to share some inspiration.

If you are a fan of Disneyland, giant ears, theme parks, feathers, embellished gowns or all of the above, then you'll enjoy the following selection of very fun photographs...

Daily dose of another favourite

When my ELLE magazine arrived yesterday, I was so excited to see the gorgeous and oh so pretty Carey Mulligan on the cover, looking beautifully sweet and elfin with her fab new crop. I feel like I am always blogging about people who I admire or simply love the 'look' of, but she seems to be a lot of people's girl crush at the moment, especially to style fanatics. She is certainly proving her status as a style icon, after landing 5 magazine covers this year and being awarded first place in Harper's Bazaar's annual 'Britain's Best Dressed' list for their December issue. She was described by Erdem as 'so Sixties French New Wave' and is the reason why I love her so much and which is showcased so impressively in that pastel Miu Miu dress at the Costume's Institute Annual Gala.

Drop Dead Gorgeous

Last night, the American mockumentary style, dark comedy film Drop Dead Gorgeous was on and as I hadn't seen it before I looked at the review. On finding that another one of my favourites, Kirsten Dunst starred, I thought I'd give it a try. As un-PC 90's films go, this topped it and like all the other films of that time, it was worth watching just for the line-up. It really is such a stereotypically US teen movie, taking the mickey, whilst being brash and hilarious. It got me thinking about how much the main characters have changed over the years since the decade I was born- nostalgia really hit in!

But on a more serious note, it reminded me of Brittany Murphy's tragic death and as it is the 1st year anniversary next month, this is my way of remembering her life. She will not only be remembered for her acting ability, striking beauty and chameleon look but also for her legacy as one of the best actresses of the 90's.

Starlet, Star Bright

Emma Watson may well be the luckiest girl alive in the world right now. She is rich, stunningly beautiful and intelligent, of course. I don't say it often but if ever there was someone I envy, it would be her without a doubt. She has acted in one of the highest grossing and longest running films of all time, modelled for British fashion mogul, Burberry (plus was front row at the London comeback show)  and graced the cover of the fashion magazine, all whilst studying at an American university. There can't be that much more on the to-do list.

For me, she is one of my favourites and definitely flying the flag for Britain, for all the right reasons. The Twiggy inspired and dazzling cover of December's UK Vogue, channelling her inner 60's icon with poise and elegance, is something Emma does so well with new elfin crop. If you haven't already, check out the issue and let her dazzle you...
