Fancy a male model or two?

I have recently became absolutely addicted to the exceedingly popular "social media" site Pinterest and thus have been pinning anything and everything I like the look of. And I mean everything. From a pair of Christian Louboutins, a Madonna album cover, to the men I fancy, I have been posting like a maniac. I have to do it constantly for work which makes the temptation to "pin" even greater. I am seriously considering rehab.

Well I do have a point here and that is male models are bloody gorgeous. Rough, long-haired, skinny, smoking.. there are a few that have caught my eye and I will be beginning to post a series of photographs, peppering my blog with a model's face or two, all for you to drool over. You're welcome.

The temptation to not only spend hours copying links but to stare into my computer screen, feeling giddy when another image flicks on the screen of a let's just say fudging gorgeous tattoo clad indie kid with that slicked 50s hair and a fag hanging from his mouth is due to a certain male model. That would be Ash Stymest to be exact, who comes in the exact form I describe above and having spotted after being recently introduced to elite model management's new Tumblr page, inspired me to pin that gorgeous face of his, of course. I mean, what else? And ultimately designate an entire post to male models. I will be posting more than once, in fact it will be continuously over the next month until my supply runs out (this seems unlikely).

I hope you lot are pinning too. It does come with a warning, like Twitter, as it is VERY addictive, but if you are addicted already, please do follow.

Enjoy the pictures. There will be more to come...

500 Days of Summer

"I love The Smiths."

 "Yeah I'm stalking! I mean I'm starving."

 "This is fun."

"Nobody loves Ringo Starr." "That's what I love about him."

"I've never told anybody that before."

"Penis."

Expectations.

I tend to get quite obsessive about films I adore and 500 Days of Summer (2009) starring Zooey Deschanel (Failure To Launch- in which she is absolutely hilarious) and Joseph Gordon- Levitt (90s classic 10 Things I Hate About You) is, after watching it 3 times within a week and a half, one of my favourites. It is just beautiful; disjointed, unpredictable and wonderful to watch, as it darts backwards and forwards. It is so smartly written, sharp and above all an innovative approach to the themes it explores so well. The soundtrack is amazing too- easing between mellow, lyrical repetitiveness, up tempo beats and soft rock; The Temper Trap, Regina Spektor and The Smiths. The music is emotive and powerful, enabling you to become engrossed in the storyline and the ever present themes of falling in (and out) of love. You feel yourself entering the mindsets of both characters and undoubtedly, the result is a sense of understanding with regards to the feelings people simply have to deal with on screen. You really want them to be together.

The best aspect to the film is its completely original and non-stereotypical ideas and views that are presented to a viewer, which is certainly one of my favourite things about the film. What you have to understand about it and that is so bluntly but creatively stated at the beginning of the film with the help of a whimsical montage and the fantastic narration of Richard McGonagle, is that it is not a love story. It is a story about love. Nor it is led by the idea of sex or tarnished with overtly sexualized scenes and natures. Does this make the film appear more realistic? I think so. In parts, it is particularly funny with references to popular culture, memorable one liners and at times, main supporting cast members being the subject of hilarity. But it doesn't shy from resembling the truth and is most definitely not frightened to appear blunt or harsh- it delves into it head first, which I feel adds a certain enlightenment and fascination that the vast majority of films within the same category are lacking. Tapping into the idea of being ‘cruel to be kind', it shows how hard 'relationships' can be and even if we do not always have mutual feelings about one another, life goes on and you will eventually find happiness. Just right now is not the time, but it could be tomorrow.

Deschanel is truly beautiful with a retro quality and is so very pretty; she is completely seductive without intention, which is what I think makes her character so endearing and interesting. You simply feel the need to be captured by her beauty and stare at her, which is something of an attractive, rather unique quality, combined and emphasised with her sweet persona and femininity.

As for her male counterpart, Gordon-Levitt is handsome and it is he in this case, who remains the more sensitive and receptive character. He is ‘geek-chic’ in a way, with his rolled up sleeves and red tie- something I find very attractive about him. And there is not a greased loin in sight. I actually fancy him quite a lot. His slicked back hair and suit look is something you do not want to miss, I assure you. Wow. I enjoy the styling throughout, which is of course something I noticed, as well as everything else about the film. It is subtle and simple, which is at times, a substantial contrast to their characters and the issues they are faced with. Nonetheless, both are witty and erudite, enjoy music and have goals they want to fulfill, just like any other couple. Only they are not a couple. And it's just that such goals will be reached at altering times in their lives. But they will happen if they are 'meant to be'...

500 Days of Summer is passionate, poignant, moving, consuming, unpredictable and absolutely heart-breaking but it is one of the most wonderful stories you will ever know.

" I want a white house with blue shutters..."

How beautiful is this editorial?
Picture perfect, don't you think?
I adore retro and this is it at it's best.
Love. Love. Love!
Some may say that it is too sweet looking, a bit cliche but I myself think it just the right combination of fun and elegance
And those shoes! Wow!
I need them on my feet as soon as possible.
The same goes for my wrist and that amazing Tiffany & Co. cuff!
I am actually in love with them both, as I am this series of photographs, the rest of which you can lust over here.
Anja, you stunner.
You get it right.
Every.
Single.

Pic of the week

Anabela Belikova | by Nagi Sakai

As part of a beautifully simple and elegant fashion editorial from the April 2011 issue of Spanish Harper's Bazaar, entitled 24 Hours, this image was the one I found most striking.

Subtle, summery and simply stunning.

Also:
The perfect interview outfit.
A suitably retro look.
Great ensemble for a wedding.

FASH IN THE ATTIC

My Uncle quite recently moved into a new house; a completely blank canvas, a haven to do with what you will. He had been rooting about the loft and found some antiques; a leather pouch and a quirky compact mirror and gave them to me. I love all things retro, adore the 60s era, old, interesting items, antiques, vintage finds- basically anything that wasn't made in my era! I have no idea about the origin of either of them but both were gathering dust just waiting for somebody to find them and give them a new home. I just thought I'd share with you, these little delights...

What vintage finds have you given a new home?

Me published, again?

I am very excited to share with you that WONDER FULL has been named "Fashion Blog of the Week" by local newspaper The Chichester News. To have recognition of my blog and to know that it being recognized, makes it all worthwhile. Plus, I have gained some experience of fashion writing as I was required to write a short piece to feature in the fashion section. Entitled "Burlesque: Sexy or just sex?", it was inspired by an earlier picture I posted of "The Retro Sexpot" Dita Von Teese for my Top 10 list.

To read it, simply click the following link: http://www.thechichesternews.co.uk/archive/issue75/ and turn to page 20.

Happy reading!

For Christmas, please may I have...

It feels like forever since I posted anything on here but with uni deadlines looming, a lap top in repair and a schedule that was completely ruined by the snowy weather, it proved rather difficult to.

But anyway, I'm back and as the deadlines have now passed I thought it was time to really get into the Christmas spirit by sharing with you my Christmas list. Even though I haven't asked for much, as for me Christmas is more about getting together as a family- eating, drinking and generally having a good laugh. But, of course it is rather exciting to wonder what will be waiting under the tree for me to discover when the day finally arrives...

When I saw this jacket on the rail, it really was love at first sight. I'm really into retro fashion and the 1960's- I honestly believe I was born in the wrong era. With all the khaki and grey hues and blocks of black in my winter wardrobe or part of my look right now, this piece is a great way to brighten it all up and make the freezing temperatures that little more bearable.

It is about time there was a good British comedy drama and this is by far the best thing on telly right now that makes my Thursday nights. The cast is amazing and the original format makes for a gripping watch- full of anger, chemistry and mysteriousness that keeps you hooked and leaves you thinking what will happen next. It is not in any way sugar coated, apart from the eye candy that bring the whole series to life. Robert Sheehan who plays Nathan is comically brilliant, is certainly easy on the eye and the ears too with that gorgeously irresistible Irish accent.

This always seems to make a regular occurrence on my Christmas list as it has readily become one of my make-up staples. Every girl has a favourite cosmetic item and this is mine. Applying make-up can sometimes seem like a chore but this just brings out the gal in me and I completely love it.
Coco Mademoiselle Eau De Parfum is my absolute favourite scent and just like the Chanel adverts starring the flawlessly stylish and sophisticated Keira Knightley draw me in, so does the perfume's flawless packaging which proves too hard to resist. It has an unbeatable aroma I adore, to simply spritz over any outfit with the effortless ease and grace Chanel brought to fashion so well and oh so elegantly.

This is one of the ultimate coffee table books I intend to add to my growing collection. My aim it to have an entire shelf full of fashion reads that offer amazing photography and fashion analysis of the highest calibre. This book is not only visually appealing but includes a history of the creation and art direction of Louis Vuitton, accompanied by an analysis of it's reference to architectural design. I simply cannot wait to delve straight into this mammoth of a read.
