L’Afrique c’est Chic

Here is an absolute gem from the December 2011 issue of Vogue Australia starring the blonde, full lipped long legged American that is Katie Fogarty. I discovered these fantastic images a while ago and have the majority of them saved on my scheduled list for some time; ready and waiting for a rainy day. Although today is in fact rather bright, albeit windy, I feel a splash of colour and print is never a bad thing - especially in January. Plus, WONDER FULL could do with it after a couple of month's hiatus.

Impeccably styled by fashion editor Naomi Smith and shot by Max Doyle on location in the sandy African desert, the collection of photographs are beautifully finished, excessive and fun with an abundance of clashing print, bright colour, stripy heels and a few rather fetching headscarves. Perfect summer dressing right there, no? It's hard to pick a favourite but I think it would be the image above if I was pressed. Not only are Fogarty's legs pretty phenomenal but her stance is strong. The Maison Martin Margiela yellow fringed mini dress by and beaded platform sandals by Burberry Prosrum is exactly the kind of ensemble I would wear on holiday in the evenings. I also love the image where Fogarty sits in a chair and those side profiles accentuate her beautifully vivid eyes without even a trace of mascara. She is absolutely stunning. And my my God she can work a stripe and plum lip.

What do you make of the editorial? Are we a fan of Fogarty? Have any of you been to Africa?

LFW: Day 5 Georgia Hardinge

It isn't often I say this but I would happily wear every piece from Hardinge's S/S '12 collection- it was beautiful, streamlined, structured and very elegant. My favourite piece was the excessively floating dress which sashayed across people's feet on the front row and blew about abundantly as the model floated down the catwalk. Absolutely perfect to wear on holiday with a pair of chunky platform wedged sandals, which I myself swear by every summer. Hardinge's choice of footwear- chunky laced Jeffrey Campbell boots which complemented the serene like quality to the overall collection. Titled 'Cubed' because of the cubism pattern applied to sheer fabric, I felt it was slightly safari-esque with the brown and grey colour palette applied to see-through shirts. Both were a stark contrast to the freshness and cleanness of the blocks of white in the form of a lampshade skirts, pale grey tones and vibrant blocks of bright orange. Boxy shapes, patterns that resembled sexy cut outs, high-wasted trousers and loose fitting garments were all interesting elements to such a great collection- certainly one of my favourites this season. I personally adored the all in 1 orange jumpsuit and the exposed collars make an otherwise mundane accompaniment to trousers, fun, creative and certainly showing the craftsmanship of a well travelled and hard working designer who is supported by the industry. She is definitely one to look out for seasons to come, whilst she is creating a successful label as an established creator of fashion.

Thanks to working with the PR company who represents Hardinge, I had the opportunity to view the collection and the smiling faces of the friends and family (and The Clothes Show's Caryn Franklin who was talking on her mobile and scribbling away at her notebook) in attendance. Her nan was rather funny taking pictures of everything and everyone as the crowd of people were waiting for the show to commence. I only wish I had the means to buy a few pieces because my wardrobe is waiting for something as amazing as this.

What are your thoughts on the collection? Which designers have stood out for you this season?

Welcome to Miami?

Whilst flicking through my favourite website for finding beautiful pictures from an extensive range of fashion editorials, campaigns and magazine covers, I came across this amazing series of photographs of Tiiu Kuik for the Spanish issue of Woman magazine. Although quite summery in style, with bright colour clash styling and shot in a hot location resembling Miami, it is apt for today because it's really hot here in England today with the sun shining- such a result after last week's rain. But even if it wasn't, these would brighten up the dullest of weather and lowest of moods, reminding you of being away on holiday. Only thing is, I once again wish I was back in some exotic location, showing off my tan and summer wardobe.. and of course sunbathing, drinking and dancing.

This photographic spread is certainly to my taste- on holiday my wardrobe consists of just the same amount of vivid colour (with the odd black dress, which really accentuates a tan), vibrancy and feel it is somewhat fun to look at, so I just had to share it with you, as I do so many other beauties. And better still, the styling reminds me so much of maneater Samantha Jones' from one of my all time favourite television series, Sex and the City. Can you see the resemblance? Do you like the editorial?

Pic of the week

Now that I am back from the most amazing 10 days spent in the Turkish sunshine and after a chilled weekend, I thought the beginning of the week would be the suited time to go back to normal as it were and begin to regularly blog again.

Slightly relating to holidays with the summery fuschia ensemble and cloudy, blue backdrop, I thought it was pretty apt for my mood at the moment, plus it's pretty to look at.

I am, however, totally wishing I was back in the sun, drinking far too much and dancing even more.

Oh did I have fun.

Hope you enjoy the picture... x

Have you been anywhere amazing? Do you have an interesting or fun-packed trip planned?

This week and beyond in pictures

Interning
Giving my time to a women's lifestyle website in Chelsea, London. I look forward to commuting to a wonderful part of the city where duties include, amongst many other things, overseeing the website and researching for articles.

Graduation
On Tuesday I finally graduated in BA (Hons) Fashion Journalism. It was a truly wonderful day spent with thoseI have had the opportunity to work with over the past few years and close family members. I was exteremely nervous (as the picture suggests) walking up to greet the legendary Zandra Rhodes, a combination of maintaining my balance and remembering to smile as the camera panned onto our faces as we strode on stage to collect our scrolls.
Afterwards, we had drinks and my parents treated me to a truly scrumptious meal and bottle of Champagne to celebrate my achievement.

Holiday
My holiday wish came true! I cannot tell you how happy I am that my family eventually booked a holiday to be spent in the wonderully sunny location of Turkey. Sun, escapism and a whole lot of fun awaits me!

Birthday
I will be turning 21 at the end of the month and I am extremely excited to know that I will be on holiday.. celebrating by sunning it up and watching the sun set before dancing the night away.

I  A M  N O W

S O M E W H A T

E X C I T E D  !

So... a holiday IS ON the cards and that means one thing - a complete lack of posts from me. But don't fret! Stay tuned to discover my goings-on when I return.

In the meantime, whilst I am lying flat on a sun lounger, enjoy these pictures.

What exciting things have you been up to?
